Training, relationships and battles
Arena training and shrine prayer can be done weekly without spending a turn where those services are open. Certification develops class options; meals and gifts raise support. Skirmishes and optional quests can build readiness, but check their turn costs and deadlines in the current chapter. Weapon upkeep matters when fights are close together.
